Ivory Coast: SECORCI project feedback workshop

The feedback workshop of the project to support the security and promotion of artisanal gold mining as a factor of development and social cohesion in the north of Côte d'Ivoire (SECORCI) financed by the Union European Union, which ended in 2023, took place from March 5 to 6 in Yamoussoukro.

The objective of this workshop was to bring together the different stakeholders of the project (the Executive Secretariat of the National Security Council, the Ministry of Mines, Oil and Energy, the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, the Ministry of Water and Forests, the Ministry of Vocational Technical Education and Apprenticeship, the National Gendarmerie, Civil Protection, SODEMI, OSCN, INPHB, the Delegation of the European Union, administrative authorities local and customary traditions of the department of Tengréla, and Coginta) with a view to sharing achievements, experiences and challenges while highlighting good practices and strategic areas of intervention which will contribute to the consolidation of the next phase of the project.

The avenues of reflection recorded at the end of the various discussions will make it possible to identify and define the next areas of effort of the project in a coherent and structuring manner for the benefit of the beneficiaries and the national strategy of the Ivorian State in the field of artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASM), which constitutes an important lever of socio-economic development for the country.
